Iron catalysis has the possibility to meet the demands of the future; iron is environmentally benign and abundant, and catalysis in itself is green chemistry compared to stoichiometric reactions. We have performed mechanistic studies of the iron catalyzed coupling of aryl grignard reagent and alkyl halide, by a Hammett study1.
