The effects of rod shaped nanocrystalline cellulose particles on the rheological properties of the high molecular weight polyethylene oxide solutions were investigated. Decrease in Newtonian viscosity plateau of polyethylene oxide solutions were observed when nanocrystalline cellulose was added less than 0.65% volume concentrations. Nanocrystalline cellulose particles are 100 nm long with 8 nm diameter. Nanocrystalline cellulose particles in semi-dilute concentration range modify the entanglement density of polyethylene oxide chains during the mixing process and reduce the viscosity at low shear rate. steady state and linear dynamic viscoelastic proeprties of nanocrystalline cellulose suspensions in polyetyhlene oxide solutions will be reported at semi dilute and concentrated regimes.
