A series of poly(pyridinium salt)s were synthesized by the ring-transmutation polymerization reaction of bispyrylium ditosylate salt with theheterocyclic pyridine and triphenylamine containing diamines on heating in dimethyl sulfoxide. From these tosylate polymers, the respective triflimide containing polymers were prepared via the metathesis reactions in a common organic solvent. Their chemical structures were confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. Their absorption and emission properties were examined by using UV-vis and photoluminescence spectrometer, respectively.
