Cisplatin is by far the most notorious metallic chemotherapy drug on the market, with several studies done on the possible drug resistance. Controversy has arisen in the past years as to whether omega-3-fatty acid supplements neutralize chemotherapeutic effects, specifically that of Cisplatin. This study examined the interaction of cisplatin with omega-3-fatty acid supplements by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy, through the titration of omega-3-fatty acid supplement to cisplatin.  These studies showed preliminary evidence of a p?d coordination between alkene moiety of the omega-3-fatty acid and the metal center of cisplatin. In summary, further research is needed in regards to the coordination between cisplatin and omega-3-fatty acids pertaining to chemotherapy drug resistance.
