Tris(pyrazolyl)borate ligands are an important class of tridentate ligands for the synthesis of molecular complexes used in catalysis and small molecule activation. Conversely, tris(imidazolyl)borate ligands have been utilized for the formation of notable boron imidazolate frameworks (BIFs). We have recently synthesized a new type of tridentate borate-based ligand using 1,2,3-triazoles as opposed to pyrazoles or imidazoles. Using this tris(triazolyl)borate ligand, we have successfully synthesized both molecular complexes and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystallographic and spectroscopic data for the complexes and MOFs will be presented.
