Nano-sized zinc oxide particles in spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPBs) were synthesized successfully by homogeneous precipitation method based on the adsorption effect of SPB and its unique core-shell structure. The existence of SPB as a carrier and nano-reactor can improve the dispersion of the ZnO particles and minimize its size with an average diameter around 20 nm. The as-prepared ZnO particles present relatively higher photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methyl orange (MO) under UV irradiation.
