It has been well known that epoxy resins have many excellent properties, including good chemical and solvent resistances, high mechanical strengths, and high distortion temperatures with industrially competitive material cost. Therefore, they have been widely used in many fields such as adhesives, coatings, composites as well as in advanced material areas such as the electronics and aerospace industries. Among these application areas, in order to utilize to the electronic field, it is essential to improve the flame retardancy and thermal properties of epoxy resins. In general, the flame-retardancy and thermal properties of epoxy polymers can be improved through modification of the molecular structure or incorporation of various fillers. For example, epoxy resins show enhanced flame retardancy and thermal properties by incorporating phosphorous-containing compounds or introducing imide groups into their structures.
