We present electron spectroscopy studies of the liquid/vapor interface of aqueous solutions that are relevant to chemistry in the atmosphere. In particular, aqueous solutions of acetonitrile and aqueous solutions of organosulfur compounds have been studied. XPS spectra of a liquid microjet aqueous solutions of dimethylsulfide (DMS), DMSO, DMSO2, and DMSO3 will be presented. DMS interacts only weakly with the water solvent. and our XPS spectra show that DMS segregates strongly to the aqueous surface. Classical molecular dynamics simulations provide a description of the solvation of DMS and DMSO.
