Bimetallic nanoparticles have attracted great attention due to their specially optical, magnetic, or catalytic properties which clearly differ from the monometallic counterparts. In particular, Pt-M alloy nanoparticles (M = Cu, Co, Ni) have emerged as a promising electrocatalyst generation to accelerate the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction compared to pure Pt catalysts. In this work, we performed in situ high temperature X-ray diffraction (HT-XRD) studies to examine the dynamic behavior of alloy formation and particle growth during annealing. A correlation of annealing temperature and time with crystal phase, composition and particle size are shown for Pt-Cu.
