Harmful algae blooms are the principal evidence of coastal eutrophication. These events are continuously reported in oceans all over the world. The deactivation of the marine algae in the short-term has not been achieved.  The aim of this work is to study an alternative to deactivate green tide by employing CaTiO3 semiconductors. The CaTiO3was prepared by microwave-assisted hydrothermal method and then Ag� nanoparticles (1 wt%), were added through a photoreduction.  The XRD results showed that CaTiO3 has an orthorhombic unit cell with perovskite-like structure. Images obtained by FESEM and HRTEM microscopies show a well faceted CaTiO3 rectangular prism morphology. XPS confirms the composition of CaTiO3 perovskite.  The UV inactivation of noxious Tetraselmis suecica of Ag/CaTiO3 highlights over the bare materials since it achieves the complete inactivation of algae in 15 min. The direct contact between harmful algae and Ag/CaTiO3 was necessary to induce fatal damages on the algae surface.
