One of the major downfalls of many MOFs is their instability in the presence of moisture.  However, a major breakthrough in the MOF literature occured with the discovery of the UiO series of MOFs, which contains a Zr6O-6- -inorganic brick.  This class of MOFs was shown to be stable to a variety of chemical conditions including high humidity.  Here we present a systematic study on the degradation of UiO analogs in a variety of chemical and thermal conditions.  UiO-66 (ZrMOF with terephthalic acid linker) is the most stable of any UiO analog chemically and thermally.  UiO-66-NH2 (ZrMOF with 2-aminoterephthalic acid linker) was found as stable as UiO-66 in all chemical conditions studies, however thermal degradation occurs at a much lower temperature.  UiO-67 and UiO-bipy (ZrMOF with biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, and  2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid linkers respectively) were found to be less chemically stable, especially in the presence of water and other protic chemicals.
