Pore-scale models of coupled flow, reactive transport, heterogeneous reaction at the mineral surface are applied for calcium carbonate precipitation and dissolution kinetics with different magnesium concentrations in a microfluidic pore network in order to improve understanding of coupled reactive transport systems perturbed by geological CO2 injection. Pore-scale modeling captures governing physics of crystal morphology and growth patterns well and the effect of surface area and rate laws is significant. Progress on upscaling reaction rates is presented.
