A versatile non-aqueous synthetic method has been developed for the fabrication of magnetic Fe3O4@hexaniobate nanopeapods. Exfoliated hexaniobate nanosheets scroll to encapsulate chains of Fe3O4nanoparticles during solvothermal treatment.  Electron microscopy studies reveal the morphological regularity of the resulting nanopeapods.  Magnetic characterization with ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) shows evidence for induced shape anisotropy arising from the encased magnetic nanoparticle chains.  This solvothermal approach is not limited to Fe3O4 and can be applied to other mixed metal ferrites including CoFe2O4 and NiFe2O4.  Details on the synthesis and characterization of the peapod structures will be presented and there potential applications discussed.
