Fe, Ag and Au nanostructures were synthesized by reduction of their corresponding ions assisted either by aqueous extract of grapefruit pulp (Citrus paradisi) or green tea (Camellia sinensis), two of the people favorite beverages. This eco-friendly bio-reduction method allows the formation in solution and support of metallic nanostructures on silk and cotton fibers. Analysis of metal-fibers bio-nanocomposites by electron microscopy shows metallic nanostructures with quasi-spherical, hexagonal and triangle shapes, with sizes above 22 nm. Diffuse re?ectance spectroscopy and laser scanning confocal microscopy were used to probe surface plasmon resonance and fluorescent behavior in the bio-composites, respectively.  FESEM study determined the degree of impregnation of the nanoparticles on fibers. XPS proved the presence of silver metal particles embedded in cotton fibers. Bio-nanocomposites here obtained have been tested in their anti-microbial capabilities and as catalysts in the degradation process of organic dyes.
