Redox-active ligands provide a useful strategy for designing coordination complexes capable of multi-electron reactivity. Tridentate, pincer-type, redox-active ligands have proven to be particularly useful for enabling multi-electron chemistry, even at metal centers with formal d0 electron configurations. This presentation will cover recent developments in the coordination chemistry of pincer-type [ONO] and [NNN] redox-active ligands to effect multi-electron small-molecule activation reactions.
