We investigated the structure of different lipid bilayers extracted from fully deuterated Pichia Pastoris cells and their interaction with the antifungal amphotericin B (AmB) by neutron reflectivity.It has been shown that AmB interacts with ergosterol by forming channel which leads to cell death.  One bilayer contained only polar lipids; the second contained polar lipids and sterols and the third polar and nonpolar lipids without sterols.Neutron reflectivity showed that the thickness of these different reconstituted bilayers is not similar. Non polar and polar lipids formed a bilayer of 54 �, the bilayer containing polar lipids and ergosterol had a thickness of 50 � and the bilayer containing only polar lipids had a thickness of 47 �. AmB incorporation resulted in a thinning of the bilayers and the volume fraction of AmB depended on the bilayer type.
