Worldwide issues with poisoning and death from clandestine drug manufacturing make it important to develop methods that can not only detect low levels of drugs but also determine their chirality. In this way law enforcement can better track users and victims of these products. As a result, a large amount of research has been conducted in the analysis of regulated drugs. The goal of this project is to develop methods to detect drugs using Capillary Electrochromatography (CEC) and Capillary Electrochromatography Mass Spectrometry (CEC-MS) techniques. Capillary electrochromatography is a novel mode of capillary electrophoresis (CE) that combines HPLC and CE separation modes. In this study, monolithic capillary column was developed for the application of regulated drug detection in complex matrixes. High efficiency separation ability was achieved as monolithic stationary was employed.
