Scientists and engineers have the knowledge and expertise to develop sustainable technologies, including sustainable energy solutions. With this comes the moral obligation to do such. Scientists and engineers in academia have the moral obligation to infuse the curriculum with these topics.  This certainly includes the curriculum for our future scientists and engineers, but also the curriculum of non-scientists/engineers, i.e. our future politicians, business leaders, teachers, lawyers, etc.  We all must infuse sustainability into our personal and our professional lives.  Chemistry in Context (CiC) is a textbook for non-science majors in which chemistry is taught in the context of real-world situations. The first chapter of the most recent (7th) edition of CiC is Chemistry for a Sustainable Future, and the theme of sustainability is blended throughout the text.  Three chapters are focused on energy, including sustainable energy technologies.
