A series of organosilicon complexes of the form RxSi(OL)4-x [R = hydrogen, alkyl or aryl; OL = 4-methyl-2,6-bis(4-methylphenylimino)phenoxy] was prepared and characterized by solution-state 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR spectroscopy, and by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.  In the solid state, Me2Si(OL)2 exhibits a bicapped tetrahedral geometry with two nitrogen atoms weakly interacting with silicon whereas the silacyclobutane derivative, (CH2)3Si(OL)2, exhibits a trigonal bipyramidal geometry with coordination of one nitrogen atom.  The structures of Ph3Si(OL),  Ph2SiH(OL) and Ph2Si(OL)2 exhibit tetrahedral geometries with absence of nitrogen coordination.
