Following our successful syntheses of methimazolyl-bridged heterodimetallic complexes (I , M = Ni, Pd, Pt) and substitution of their silicon and transition metal bound halides (X, Y),[1] we also aim at the syntheses of related compounds with different bridging ligands. The anion of 7-azaindole should be capable of serving as a substitute for the methimazolyl moiety, as had been shown for some so-called metallaboratranes (e.g., II ).[2] The reaction of 7-azaindole with SiCl4 afforded the four-fold 7-azaindol-1-yl substituted silane, which reacts with [PdCl2(NCMe)2] under formation of III . Computational analyses indicate that the formation of paddlewheel-shaped �metallasilatranes� (related to I ) should also be possible with this ligand.  References: [1] Wagler, J.; Brendler, E. Angew.
