Velocys has developed a cobalt FT process that yields excellent operability while simultaneously violating the consensus for �safe� ranges of a number of different key parameters.  CO reactions rates > 10 times higher than current commercial technologies are achieved in a microchannel reactor operating without heat transfer limitations; performance is limited by absolute catalyst activity or mass transfer limitations.  Under single-stage-with-recycle conditions overall CO conversions of 91-92%, and per pass conversions of 74-76% with a recycle-to-fresh feed ratio of 0.4-0.5 are achieved.  During 6 months operation catalyst deactivation is ~0.25%/day despite 1) tail gas H2/CO ratios of 0.8-1.0, water partial pressures of 6.0-7.5 bar, and 3) water to hydrogen ratios of 3.0-3.8.   Details of this performance, as well as the results of supporting mechanistic studies, will be presented and discussed.
