Nine new copper corroles containing different electron-withdrawing and/or electron-donating groups have been prepared by a simple Suzuki cross-coupling procedure similar to the recently reported method by Ghosh et coll.1 These compounds have been characterized by various methods including single crystal X-Ray diffraction in six cases.2 The crystal structures of these copper complexes were fully resolved and show that their saddling dihedrals (?) increase with the electron-donating efficiency of the meso-substituents. This macrocycle deformation is reinforced by the steric hindrance of the �-aryl groups with ? values close to the ones produced by the �-octabromination. The UV-visible studies show that the red shift of the absorption maxima of �-octaaryl-meso-triarylcorroles are still sensitive to the nature of the meso-substituents. Two copper corroles have been used to fabricate p-type organic field effect transistors (OFETs) and the mobility of these two compounds are 1.36 � 10-6 and 1.32 � 10-7 cm2/Vs, respectively.[1] S.
