Over the past few years and enormous number of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been synthesized with the eventual application of carbon dioxide capture in mind. Many of these materials have potential to be used in a temperature swing process (TSA). The presentation will focus on a high-throughput method to characterize porous materials with readily available experimental data (adsorption isotherms and heat capacities) and predict parasitic energies in a TSA process. The validity of this method will be discussed with a series of examples and comparison to state of the art capture technologies will be made. Evaluation of working capacities and regeneration energies has brought to light some interesting trends in relation to other physical properties of the MOFs, which may guide future research in developing new MOFs for carbon capture.
