Our research focused on synthesizing metal nanoparticles, e.g. Au-NP and Cu-NP, with various ligand shells suited to applications in nanoelectronics and biomedicine. Here we present characterization results for those nanoparticles (NP) with regard to quality, size, size distribution, reproducibility and stability. According to a theory by Haiss at al. for Au NP, measurements of width and position of Surface Plasmon Peaks (SPP) in UV-Vis Spectra can be used to determine size and concentration of the NP solution. We compare the results from this theory to DLS and TEM measurements and explore if the theory can be extended to other metal nanoparticle types and different shapes such as nanorods and hollow spheres.
