The enzyme lysyl oxidase (LOX) is known to influence the progression of cancer metastasis. As such, reducing the activity of the LOX enzyme serves as a viable treatment for metastatic cancers. �-Aminopropionitrile (BAPN) is a small molecule inhibitor of LOX. However, BAPN does not selectively target tumor cells. The present work reports our progress towards the synthesis of small molecule LOX inhibitors capable of selectively delivering BAPN to hypoxic tumor cells.
