Several studies have highlighted the potential role of creatine as an antioxidant.  In the investigation of the antioxidant activity of creatine toward hypochlorous acid, an unexpected product was identified:  N-formyl-N-methylglycine.  The experiments leading to the discovery, isolation and characterization of this product are the subject of this presentation.
