Dendritic polymers are three-dimensional structures by nature, which disrupts the electron conjugation of the molecule. By constructing 'flat' two-dimensional dendrimers, electron conjugation should be promoted throughout the structure. These 'flat' dendrimers are expected to show directed energy and electron transfer with a highly conjugated system, and thus should be effective in the preparation of photoreactive materials such as electronic sensors or light harvesting materials. Progress toward the synthesis of a two-dimensional dendrimer with a benzene core will be presented.
