Recent studies of microporous polymers have focused on applications such as gas storage, capture and separation, and heterogeneous catalysis.1 Recently, a new method of producing microporous polymers using formaldehyde dimethylacetal as a crosslinker has made possible the polymerization of a wide range of aromatic compounds.2,3Here, we describe the synthesis of high surface area hyper-crosslinked networks incorporating catalysts by co-polymerization. By varying the co-monomers it is possible to selectively catalyze e.g. only hydrophobic or hydrophilic substrates, or to produce products which are chiral.(1) R. Dawson, A.I. Cooper, D.J.
