Arylboronic acids and their derivatives are versatile reagents in modern organic synthesis. Several catalytic procedures for the synthesis of arylboronic acids are known. The most widely-utilized method is the catalytic borylation of aryl halides. Direct boryation through the cleavage of C-H bonds of arenes has attracted considerable attention. Herein, we report a new type of catalytic borylation, which involves the cleavage of carbon-cyano bonds. This reaction has high functional group compatibility, and alkenyl and benzyl cyanides are also applicable.
