This study focuses on finding new methods of producing high specific activity radioisotopes for medical purposes. Szilard-Chalmers is an important method based on the recoil effect from neutron activation of target elements. The initial step is to find suitable target compounds for producing carrier free radiolanthanides and molybdenum. The Molybdenum phosphate salt is mainly studied under this method and its compound structure is also verified using X-rays diffraction analysis. After irradiation using Szilard-Chalmers method, the results  show that when no water is present, very little molybdenum comes off the resin when washed post-irradiation. The sample irradiated with water indicated that water works as a catching matrix and molybdenum is recoiled into the solution.
