CMC/Eu nanocomposites were synthesized in water bath at 70?. Eu nanoparticle were well dispersed on the CMC and the sizes of Eu nanocomposites were about 30-40nm (see figure). TG-DSC showed that the thermo stability was greatly improved contrast to CMC, and this indicated the reaction between CMC and Eu ions. The peaks of fluorescence emission spectra were at 620nm and 590nm generated from 5D0?7F2 and 5D0?7F1 transition of Eu3+ions, respectively. CMC/Eu nanocomposites also had a greater fluorescence intensity than bulk CMC/Eu materials.We gratefully acknowledge the financial support provided by the National 973 project (2010CB732201) and the National Natural Foundation of China (project 31270617).
