Non-covalent functionalization facilitates dispersion of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) without the property deterioration associated with covalent functionalization schemes. In this work, we demonstrated hydrophobic interaction between lysozyme (LSZ), a natural antibacterial enzyme, and SWNT. For processing methodologies such as fiber spinning, a higher SWNT concentration is desired. Higher concentration was achieved by the addition of the cationic surfactant tetradecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (TTAB) in the dispersion. We investigated both LSZ-TTAB-SWNT dispersion properties and the properties of fibers produced from the dispersions.
