A rational synthetic protocol of cyclic polymer from linear polymer and a reversible linear-cyclic polymer topology conversion by applying a dynamic nature of rotaxane are described. Movement of the wheel component of both a bulky end-cap moiety and terminal pseudo[1]rotaxane unit-tethering linear polymer causes the macrocyclization to the cyclic polymer. Appropriate application of a protection-deprotection protocol to the attractive points of each polymer resulted in the reversible linear-cyclic polymer topology transformation.
