This presentation will describe recent efforts in my group to combine photoredox and transition metal catalysis. The mechanistic manifolds uncovered based on this approach have enabled the development of new Pd and Cu-catalyzed reactions. Among other things, applications of this approach to C-H bond functionalization and to catalytic trifluoromethylation will be highlighted.
