Photocatalytic hydrogen production via solar energy has been considered as one of the most promising strategies for renewable energy development. We successfully synthesized Rh doped SrTiO3 photocatalyst by polymerized complex method. We have conducted a comprehensive structural and morphological characterization of the samples using TEM, SEM, XPS, XRD, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution tests confirmed that  the SrTiO3: Rh sample prepared by polymerized complex method had 2 times higher activity as compared to sample prepared by solid state reaction method. Based on XPS characterization, the increased activity can be largely attributed to the abundance of Rh4+ species. The samples were optimized by tuning Rh doping level as well as calcination temperature. SrTiO3: Rh (1%) loaded with Pt was found to have the best photocatalytic efficiency for hydrogen production.
