Bis((perfluoroalkyl)sulfonyl)imides are used extensively in ionic liquids. Examples of multifunctional ionic liquids using polycations are known. However, examples employing polyanions based on fluorinated sulfonimides are a new class of ionic liquids. Several examples of these interesting materials will be presented including a polymeric ionic liquid prepared from a polymerizable ionic liquid monomer.
