Fog events are quite common along the Gulf of Mexico during the late fall into spring and are associated with a significant economic impact due to their negative effects on the transportation industry and increased loss of life due to accidents. By evaluating the climatological data of the last 70 years from Houston and Baton Rogue, two major cities along the gulf coast corridor, a clear declining trend of fog days can be observed. The reason for this decrease in fog events could be connected to multiple factors including urbanization, changes in environmental pollution, or simply an overall global climate change.  The potential influence of these possible factors, with a special focus on the change in pollution levels in NOx, ozone and particulate matter is investigated for each city via correlation graphs and principal component analyses.
