Coordination complexes containing multiple bonds between late transition metals and nitrogen are useful intermediates in a range of synthetic applications, including polymer and pharmaceutical synthesis.  We have investigated new routes to these complexes through late-metal silylamides, which may yield imides through Si-N bond cleavage.  Toward this goal, we will present findings regarding the synthesis and reactivity of Ir(III) and Ni(II) complexes containing mono- and bidentate silylamide ligands.
