Bacteria are capable of producing intracellular biopolyester beads as storage material. We have harnessed this process to efficiently produce functionalized high-performance resins in vivo, for bioseparation and other applications, without the need for chemical crosslinking. Utilizing this approach and the use of antibody fragments (scFv or VHH) or synthetic binding domains (DARPIns or Obodies) derived from their respective ligand libraries we have developed a platform for the generation of cost-effective customizable specific bioseparation resins. Furthermore Polybatics has generated a range of high�performance resins for use in common antibody purification (protein A, protein L, protein G based resins or combinations thereof). The Polybatics platform will be discussed, focusing on the generation, performance and implementation of these bioseparation resins.
