 Seeking renewed access to the Cis-decalin substructure in sesquiterepenes, methodology strategies developed into a �trans-positioning� expedition between the strained carbons in bicyclo[2.2.2]octenes(-anones) and tethered alkene and carbonyl alkyl chains. Exploitation of the unapparent ring-strained in bicyclo[2.2.2]octenes(-anones) via Ring-opening/Ring-closing metathesis (ROM/RCM) and Dieckmann condensation are promising routes to cis-decalin substructures.
