The lithium resources play a very important role in the industrial, energy and economic sectors. In the last decade, the demand for lithium has been growing for promising use in many fields. Meanwhile, the lithium recovery has been paid strict attention. In this study, lithium ions were first selectively adsorbed from residual liquid by the lithium sieves, and then washed from adsorbent until high concentration lithium solution obtained. In spite of good lithium selectivity of the synthesis ion sieve material, during the process some accompanying impurity ions such as Na+ and K+ still shifted to the lithium solution. In order to increase separation efficiency, carbon dioxide was used as sedimentation of Li2CO3. In this article, the synthesis of Manganese oxide lithium ion-sieve is presented, and relevant reaction mechanism is also summarized. The research progress on adsorption-acid washing-sedimentation is discussed in details. The opinions about development of lithium recovery will be given in conclusion.
