The reaction of thermal electrons at temperatures at above 2000K are important processes in combustion, discharges and stars. However, few studies of the formation and destruction of negative ions have been carried out at these temperatures and atmospheric pressures. This presentation merges our negative ion mass spectrometry, electron capture detector, and electrochemical data at temperatures below 700K with higher temperature magnetron data and mass spectrometric investigations in flames and surface ionization experiments to obtain multiple electron affinities for diatomic oxygen, nitric oxide, sulfur hexafluoride. The number of anion states are predicted from electron correlation rules. The electron affinities are verified by quantum calculations and relative anion bond orders.
