Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been intensively investigated for hydrogen storage over the past decade, and the creation of open metal sites have been explored as an effective strategy to enhance hydrogen uptake capacities in MOFs. An appealing way to achieve high density of open metal sites can turn to the employment of metalloorganic ligands for the construction of MOFs, and metalloporphyrin ligands represent promising candidates in this regard. A series of metal-metalloporphyrin frameworks (MMPFs) with high density of open metal sites are prepared and exhibit interesting hydrogen storage performances.
