A series of n-doped conductive polymer films have been prepared via electrochemical polymerization of various metal tetraaminophthalocyanines (TAPcs).  The electrical properties of these materials have been characterized by various techniques, including cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometry, and chronoamperometry.  Of the various metal derivatives examined, the NiTAPc polymer exhibits the highest electronic conductivity and specific capacitance, with estimated capacitance values over 600 F g-1.  Scanning electron microscopy of poly-NiTAPc films reveals a highly porous microstructure with submicron features; however, the structural details vary with the experimental parameters employed during polymerization, including solvent choice, potential limits, monomer concentration, and coating thickness.  The molecular structure and film morphology appear to support substantial levels of electronic conductivity as well as facile counterion mobility, suggesting possible utility in supercapacitors.  The electrochemical behavior, morphological studies, and cycling stability of these materials under various conditions will be discussed in detail.
