As a continuation of our intrinsic interest in the synthesis of organometallic gold(III) complexes and to better understand the chemical and physical behavior of biologically relevant mono-(DACH) gold (III) complexes, the chiral  isomers Bis [1,2-(DACH)Au]Cl3  has been synthesized and fully characterized by IR, NMR, Elemental Analysis and UV-Vis.  Its cytotoxicity has been tested in vitro in human gastric carcinoma and cell line SGC-7901 and prostate cancer cell lines PC-3.  In this study, the influence of relative stereochemistry of (DACH) gold (III) complexes on their antitumor activity was addressed. Apparently, these compounds are quite water soluble compared to cisplatin or related analogs.
