Acidic component of frustrated Lewis pairs is mostly presented by fluorinated arylboranes.Fluorinated aryl substituents bring proper electronic and steric properties to the active boron centre required for hydrogen activation. Ansa-aminochloroboranes, prepared by us, show the same reactivity towards hydrogen as their C6F5-substituted analogs, providing a possible solution for hydrogen storage and performing catalytic hydrogenation.
