We earlier reported the formation of the dialkoxide complex Ta(=NSiMe3)[N(SiMe3)2](OCH2But)2 through the reaction of the dineopentyl complex Ta(=NSiMe3)[N(SiMe3)2](CH2But)2 with O2.1  We have found that, in the reaction of the dimethyl analog Ta(=NSiMe3)[N(SiMe3)2]Me2 with O2, single oxygen insertion into one Ta-Me bond occurs, giving the dimer Ta2(�-OMe)2(=NSiMe3)2[N(SiMe3)2]2Me2.
