Complexes of three-membered chelating or bridging ligands of the structure A=B-C- have been intensively studied regarding different properties1. As a first ligand of this series, the triazenido ligand was detected in its oxidized neutral form by EPR spectroscopy as confirmed by DFT calculations. The preference of the ligand centered as opposed to the ruthenium centered oxidation was achieved by tuning the electronic structures of the triazenido ligand and of the ancillary ligands.[1] G.
