Asymmetric organocatalysis has emerged as a powerful methodology for the catalytic production of enantiomerically pure organic compounds and also as one of the most rapidly growing and competitive research areas in synthetic organic chemistry. Among them, small-molecule chiral hydrogen-bond donors have been extensively used in the activation of Lewis basic electrophiles such as imines, nitroolefins, and carbonyl compounds toward nucleophilic addition. We have prepared chiral thiourea containing a novel scaffold that provides handle for controlling reactivity and selectivity. Results from these studies will be presented.
