The catalytic directed arylation of pyridines to yield exclusively the mono-arylated product has achieved via C-H bond activation. Incorporation of an iron catalyst accompanied by the C-H bond activation pathway makes this process extremely inexpensive and �green� due to eliminating the need for pre-functionalization. The ability to arylate heterocycles through this method is necessary to prepare high-value target compounds in pharmaceutical and industrial processes.
